Central Pizza has some of the best pizza in Lafayette. Done, I said it. Boom. Come at me. All kidding aside, I really do think they have some of the best in the area. The thing that intrigues me so much about their style is how different they are from everyone in the area. They feel like a cross breed between Dean-o’s and Bread & Circus. The crust is thin and crispy, but not as crispy as the Dean-o’s crust. But it taste as fresh as the Neapolitan style at B&C. It makes me so exciting to know that there is multiple styles appearing around Lafayette that isn’t one of the chain joints. I highly recommend getting a Paulie when you visit. The hot honey they add to the pizza makes it something unique. Don’t forget to order some of the Central Wings as well. I tried to picture them here… but I kind of ate them all before I took a picture. Whoops.
I also didn’t want to forget to mention the great drink specials they have. The bar is composed of people who really know how to make a great cocktail. I recommend the Don Draper.
This is my only real complaint about this place. The dining room is quaint and beautiful, but really small. If you’re a big boy like I am, you’re going to find it a bit cramped. Other than that, the design and layout of the dining room is fantastic overall. You can see into the kitchen, which adds to the aesthetic, especially because you can see the giant stone oven they installed. It adds to the atmosphere immensely. Aside from it being small, this is a great place to dine. Even though I’ve been cramped, I don’t mind because I’m usually enjoying myself too much.
I’m teetering on this being a bigger issue than it probably is. I don’t think it’s fair to say they don’t have a fast kitchen. They absolutely have a professional staff on behind the counter, but I feel like it can take a little longer than I would like. Bare in mind that this is my opinion, and some of you might not agree. If you disagree, post about it in the comments to head off readers before they just take me at my word. The lunch rush appeared to be much faster, but not by that much. Still, it’s not unbearably slow.
Perfect marks across all of my visits. Seriously, I’ve never had a bad service experience at Central Pizza. I’ve had a different server each time I’ve gone, and it was really impressive. My drink never was empty, they were knowledgeable about the menu, and they were kind and talkative. I always look forward to my service experience at Central. Nothing negative to say here.
Well, at the end of it all, this place is one of my favorite pizza places in town. I have a top 5 pizza places post on the site, and I plan on updating it soon. I don’t know if Central is going to take the top spot, but you better believe it’s going to be pretty high up there. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.
