Thai Cuisine Review Lafayette

Thai Cuisine

The Good
  • Very tasty
  • Decent location
  • Fast kitchen
The Bad
  • Mediocre service
  • Bleak atmosphere

The food at Thai Cuisine was great. I ate during lunch time with co-workers and ended up choosing the buffet. There were three different types of curry on the buffet spread, along with eggrolls, shrimp and jalapenos, pork rice, pad thai, and many others. The pork fried rice was delicious as a side to the curry. As a huge lover of curry, I was happy to find such a nice spread, and the chili sauces at the end of the buffet line to make it more spicy as needed. I didn’t partake in the spring rolls, but my co-workers told me that they were delightful. One of my co-workers, who is vegetarian, ordered a curry with tofu from the menu and stated that it was wonderful. The buffet is only available during lunch, but it’s worth the trip if you’re nearby. My only complaint was the lack of some dishes once they were emptied. The kitchen took long to refill them.

The dining room was slightly cramped, as they tried to fit one or two many tables. I ended up sitting behind someone who sits further away from the table and kept hitting the back of their chair when I tried to get up. The decor of the restaurant wasn’t anything to remember. Fake plants lay in one of the corners of the room, along with different asian decorations that you might find at a cliche chinese restaurant. The location of this place doesn’t really assist it when it comes to the design though, as it’s in a shopping center with multiple other businesses. That being said, the food speaks louder than the decor, but food doesn’t always outweigh cheesy design.

Considering it was a buffet, timeliness isn’t as much of a factor here, but the delay in getting the buffet refilled was a concern. At one point, the shrimp and jalapeno dish was emptied and it took about 20 minutes to get it refilled. It didn’t bother me because I had plenty of other choices, but this sort of thing can make someone’s experience ruined if they were really looking forward to eating that particular dish.

The service was good, but nothing too impressive. My drink stayed filled and she was friendly enough. She was timely in getting things back to us, and she smiled when she needed too. There just wasn’t anything too memorable about it.

My experience at Thai Cuisine was good enough to make me want to go back. The food speaks volumes, the price was fair, the service was good, and I can say that all of that outweighed the bleak atmosphere. Check this place out. It was the LFC seal of approval.
